How People Business assisted WaterAid

WaterAid approached us in November 2023 to help us to create an education and awareness programme involving training and specialist resources about menopause and menstrual health in the workplace for their UK organisation.

The aim of this programme was to be ahead of the curve in workplace health and inclusivity in enabling people to be at their best. They were looking for additional resources for their people managers as part of their development and asked us to provide them with ideas, as we had previously worked with them on a Diversity, Equity and Empowerment project.

We offered a ‘pick and mix’ approach where WaterAid could choose from a list of options to form a specialist toolkit which included guidance on practical adjustments to accommodate the needs of employees and equipping line managers and the organisation on how to have the conversation to support employees going through menstrual health and menopause.

To supplement the toolkit, we also created:

  • A 45-minute eLearning module covering the facts and symptoms of menopause and menstruation, how it affects working lives, discrimination and supporting staff
  • A tailored menopause adjustment plan template – a risk assessment document with step-by-step process and;
  • Tailored recommendations based on a CIPD Menopause survey findings

What our client said

WaterAid is committed to building an organisational culture that supports and empowers employees impacted by symptoms associated with menstrual health and menopause. Our brilliant new educational resources will help us to raise awareness of the issue and harvest an inclusive work environment, enabling people to be at their best. Thank you for all your help and support to get us to a great place on this programme.”
