Project Description
Quintain
Quintain is an award-winning development and asset management company and the team behind Wembley Park, one of London’s most exciting new neighbourhoods. They are recognised as mixed-use regeneration and Build to Rent specialists.
As a long-term People Business client, we have been delighted to work with Quintain since 2015.
How People Business assisted Quintain
Quintain wanted a training programme for their managers that would achieve a consistently high quality of people management on a day-to-day basis. Working in partnership with the HR Team, we developed a modular programme of management development with a combination of essential and optional modules. The training was designed around the organisational values which included managers who ‘put people first’ and who inspired and encouraged their teams.
Over the last 18 months the development programme has been rolled out to four cohorts of circa ten managers. At each stage we continuously review the training; evolving and adapting the modules in response to participant feedback, facilitators observations, as well as what is happening in the business.
After our initial diagnostic conversations with our client, we recommended each manager start their development programme with the Good Boss Questionnaire. The GBQ is a 180-degree psychometric questionnaire that improves individual and organisational performance by focussing on the behaviours of managers which are statistically proven to motivate and energise others.
Given the numbers of managers involved in the programme, Quintain opted to accredit 2 of their HR Team on the GBQ tool, this enabled them to deliver the GBQ feedback reports directly to their managers in-house. By incorporating the GBQ and subsequent feedback sessions into the programme, we helped managers to identify their strengths and areas for development. Collating these themes provided additional insight for the design of the modules and enabled participants to personalise their learning journey.
The flexible modular programme included three core and three optional modules. Core modules included generating a shared understanding of the role of the manager, specifically within the context of the client’s business, developing confidence in conversations that put people first, as well as defining performance expectations and supporting others to grow and develop.
Attendees were offered three optional modules, providing choices based on the manager’s development needs. These included advanced communication skills, stakeholder relationships and personal effectiveness.
What our client said
“We were delighted to work again with People Business to roll out a bespoke and dedicated management development programme for our people managers. The format of the training, including the use of the GBQ tool, gave managers an insight into their strengths and development areas as well as the opportunity to learn from the experience of other and applying practical real-life scenarios to tried and tested models and good practice. The inclusion of optional modules gave all attendees the chance to hone their skills in particular areas of interest or relevance to their individual role and experience-level as a people manager. The whole team at People Business are highly professional and effective trainers who partnered with us in ensuring our objectives for the programme were met. Thank you again for your hard work and support!”
