Project Description
MSD
For more than 130 years, MSD have used the power of leading-edge science to save and improve lives around the world, developing important medicines and vaccines whilst aspiring to be the premier research-intensive biopharmaceutical company in the world. Today, they operate at the forefront of research to deliver innovative health solutions that advance the prevention and treatment of diseases in people and animals, employing 69,000 people worldwide.
We were approached by the Quality Leadership Team in Singapore to work hand-in-glove with the internal team to develop and facilitate a wide-reaching change programme, empowering employees at every level in the organisation to sustainably embed new behaviours and attitudes to working together.
How People Business assisted MSD
People Business had already completed some change leadership work with the Quality Leadership Team in Singapore, using psychometric profiling, organisational analysis and associated coaching to drive excellence across the team. As the team considered how to entrench this across all levels in the organisation, we were engaged to support with developing a tailored model for embedding the change in a sustained way.
We then created a programme in partnership with the team, blending pre-learning, small group coaching and remote group facilitation. Due to the time difference and the cost of travel, we were forced to get creative, being mindful of how you can deliver engaging learning as though you are in the room, from 7,000 miles away.
Delivered to 300 people across four interventions in three months, the programme focused on how colleagues can deliver against the new ‘five pillars’ model, using the TypeCoach methodology (based upon Jungian psychoanalytical theory) to explore in significant detail how different people work together effectively.
We then worked with focus groups of senior operators, using realistic case studies to help managers think about how they identify, then empower, different personality types to achieve their best together.
What the client said
“People Business successfully understood the need and were able to build a bespoke programme which was then delivered across the organisation.
The personal, small group approach really allowed for rich and robust discussions around change, change leadership, impact of change and how to navigate change.
The agility of People Business is excellent. They were able to check in at key timepoints and pivot/adjust based on real time feedback to ensure that the potential of the programme outcomes was achieved. The use of Typecoach has created a ‘common language’ across the group; the system’s data-based approach really resonated with the team, creating many ‘aha’ moments and insights.
We are seeing positive changes in recent employee pulse survey and more importantly in day-to-day interactions and collaborative dialogue between associates, where Typecoach is often a conversation starter. The program has enabled the organisation with tools and foundational insights upon which we can continue to build, thus building sustainability versus a one-time initiative.”
